Just a few quick tips for all our readers who don’t live in Sydney, Australia but are interested in the world affairs.
A word of warning. Since last Saturday (10/12/05) our media decided to use cryptic language to make understanding of what’s happening in Sydney very difficult.
If you are not sure why, please read some of our previous posts.
Having a considerable experience with censorship and the use of government sponsored euphemisms (27 years behind Iron curtain in a communist country) I decided to provide a few handy tips to help our overseas readers to understand our newspapers, on line news etc.

 Race task force arrests 19
 From: AAP December 17, 2005
NINETEEN people have been arrested as part of Operation Seta, the new strike force set up this week after race-related violence in Sydney. Police said 23 charges were laid overnight, for offences such as drink driving, traffic and drug offences and outstanding warrants. (Source)
Â
19 Muslim Arabs were arrested for offences other that civil disobedience (there aren’t any real laws dealing with conspiracy on this level as well as lack of immediate evidence).
How do I know these people are Muslim Arabs?
If they weren’t the media would use terms like: “Neo-Nazisâ€, “white hooligans†, “yobbos†or “rednecksâ€. Also their activities would be defined as: “inciting racial hateâ€, “vandalismâ€, “anti-social behaviour†and the like.
Nice term “people†is reserved for the real offenders to maintain religious/cultural sensitivity among Aussie readers as well as not to bring the wrath of media bosses upon poor journalistic necks.
Two men and a boy will appear in court today charged over a violent incident on a train at Cronulla last Sunday, when up to 5000 people gathered along the beachfront and a number of people of Middle Eastern appearance were attacked.
Whenever a culprit is non Muslim you can find out about it because the victims are described as “people of Middle Eastern appearanceâ€.
An 18-year-old man was arrested just after 4.30pm yesterday at his home at south suburban Caringbah, police said.
A 14-year-old was arrested by detectives at his Woolooware home shortly before 6pm. They were both questioned at Miranda Police Station.
The third, a 19-year-old, was arrested at his home in Old Toongabbie about 6pm.
All three have been charged with riot and affray and have been refused bail.
The 18-year-old and 19-year-old are due to face Parramatta Bail Court today, while the 14-year-old is due to appear in Lidcombe Children’s Court today. (Source)
The above quotation obviously refers to Muslims.
It is obvious because there is no indication about their “race” or religion as well as the fact that bail was refused (not too mention the location of the courts).
POLICE yesterday declared six popular beaches unsafe for public use this weekend after intelligence revealed armed rioters are planning attacks. In an unprecedented move, Police Commissioner Ken Moroney urged people to stay away from Cronulla, Maroubra and Bondi beaches in Sydney, Terrigal on the Central Coast, Nobbys Beach in Newcastle and beaches in Wollongong. (Source)
Police intercepted some information about Muslim urban terrorists getting organized to hit six or more Sydney beaches.
How do I know it’s Muslims getting organized?
Well white neo-Nazis wouldn’t organize an attack on fellow neo-Nazis (read all other non-Muslim folk).
Well, of course my interpretation may not be precise or they might be even downright wrong.
Please do not blame me though.
All misunderstandings could be easily avoided if the media just stuck  to the “right to free speech†and free dissemination of information.

Awesome post, Felis. These are very confusing times we live in. Making sense seems to have been left to bloggers alone.
Thanks for breaking their code for us.

I ditto esther’s sentiment of breaking the code for us. It does seem a reasonable intrepertation for the journalistic doublespeak!
Comment by seawitch — December 17, 2005 @ 2:16 pm
Thats not very politically correct felis. Good onya!
Comment by Gravelrash — December 17, 2005 @ 3:12 pm
You’re like the enigma machine from WWII, cracking the code for us, Felis. Actually more like one of the Navajo code talkers.

Great post -well I can hear the thought police saying ‘It’s an interpretation’ . Like when I told someone that the Koran permits wife beating - the leftie said ‘It’s an interpretation’.

Good job, Felis. I have a friend in Melbourne, and she helps to cut through all of the obfuscation. But, more and more, this sort of politically correct doublespeak is becoming the refuge of soundrels.

Esther,
.
I just hope they won’t censor our activity.
Although limited in its reach, at least it gives us some feeling of community spirit.
Seawitch,
“journalistic doublespeak”
Yeah, doublespeak.
Why do they bother to print this kind of “news” at all?
Grav,
No PC heh?
Elmers Brother,
Except the Navajo were the good guys.
I can’t say that about our journos.
Skylark,
Iterpretation?
Really?
What’s there to interpret?
The Quran Sura 4 Verse 34:
Rory,
Agreed, and cowards.
Comment by Felis — December 17, 2005 @ 10:15 pm
Rory; “the refuge of scoundrels” Absolutely.
I have been humming an old tune to myself all day….I haven’t heard it for years and I insist….it just floated in. It’s a Scottish lament about how the Lairds sold the clansmen out, preparing the way for the infamous “Clearances”.
The song is called “Parcel of Rogues”.
The only words I can recall:
“We were bought and sold,
for English gold
Such a parcel of rogues
in our nation”
Substitute “English gold” for any number of contemporary rogues.
Comment by Gravelrash — December 17, 2005 @ 10:46 pm
bad analogy

Felis,
Just now on Fox News, I watched a segment about “the violence in Sydney.” Blah, blah, blah, “Lebanese,” blah, blah, blah. No background info whatsoever. My husband turned to me and said, “What the hell is going on? We’re missing something here.”
I filled him in as to some of the details from you blog articles.
The media are cowards or ignoramuses or both. Or subverted by the Saudi Prince, pc, multiculturalism, etc.
Comment by Always On Watch — December 18, 2005 @ 8:51 am
AOW,
CNN had a piece on the “violence in Sydney” the other day that was so totally biased, one might have thought they were reporting on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.
Comment by Rory — December 18, 2005 @ 6:46 pm
AOW,
Probably they are just all of the above.
I canot belieb it’s happening
Rory.
.
Very accurate comparison.
So this is how’s going to be fro mnow on heh?
Muslims just cannot do wrong.
